Sibling is Bryan Osuszek and Elodie Tomlinson who live and write in Venice Beach, Los Angeles. They aren’t brother and sister, but soon felt a synergy after exploring the lore of astrological connections, and the indefinable magic of creative partnerships.
Osuszek ended up being something of a foster brother for Elodie, who grew up with seven sisters – all of whom she is unable to talk to, following a family feud. Her own status as a sibling has been denied, but in the lush, effusive pop music of “Sibling” the duo help to reclaim that – sometimes directly, with Tomlinson imagining she was singing to her sisters when recording.
The EP’s first single “Westside” is a torch song for those siblings, lighting a way for them to travel; a sense of classic Californian freedom, found on dusty beaches and long, winding roads.
