KEFFA
Keffa (f/k/a/ Keffaleng a/k/a Aaron Alem), is a 23 year old rapper, singer, songwriter, and Producer from Toronto, Canada, Son of Ethiopian migrants during the “Red Terror” era. His Name Keffa is derived from Keffaleng which means ‘He repayed me’, It was a name given to him by his grandmother who lost her only son during the Red Terror era. Keffa is the first male born in his family since his Uncle’s death hence the name. He grew up exposed to a wide spectrum of music by his father, who would play music by the likes of Michael Jackson, Boney M, Kool & The Gang, Prince, Harry Belefonte, Miles Davis, Jimi Hendrix, Marvin Gaye, Aretha Franklin, Diana Ross, Outkast, Pink Floyd, and many more. Alem was also inspired by 50 Cent's ‘Get Rich Or Die Trying’ album’, Jay-Z & Linkin Park’s‘ Collision Course and Jay-Z & Cold Play’s ‘Viva La Hova’ EP’s and artist’s such as Kid Cudi, Kanye West, Pharrell, Justin Timberlake & The Weeknd, influenced his musical style.
